Le Cedre 2006 - Cahors Malbec

This Cahors red is created by Pascal Verhaeghe famous owner of Chateau du Cedre. Made from only the Malbec grapes of Cahors in Southwest France, one of the oldest French Appelelation Controlée Regions. It is the origin of the famous Malbec grape that is now the standard of Argentinean and Chilean wines. But these Cahors wines are from vines that are sometimes hundreds of years old and grown by the same winemaking families who made wine for Pope John XXII who was born in Cahors, and ruled the Catholic Church from 1316 to 1334. Often called "black" wines for their depth of color, this wine is soft and round on the palate, thanks to its velvety tannins. This unfiltered wine is Oak Barrel aged for 22 months. This wine is great to drink now or keep for many years. The Top of the Top, a full bodied, smooth delicious Red you are sure to fall in love with. ***A personal note: Cahors is one of the first wines I drank on my many trips to the Soutwest of France, It is one of my First Loves in Wine. A discovery waiting for you!***
